Pride
by Johnny Crescendo
Pride is something in your soul
Pride is somewhere you are in control
Pride is the peace within that finally makes you whole
Celebrate your difference with pride
Pride in yourself is bound to set you free
Pride in who you are, a person just like me
Pride and self-respect and gentle dignity
No one can take away your pride
Pride can make you strong
Pride's the key that unlocks the doors
to the rooms where we belong
Pride is our destiny and where we all came from
Turn around embrace your pride
Pride can make you equal without your liberty
Pride can give its freedom to a prisoner like me
Pride is always with you wherever you may be
Once won you'll never lose your pride
Pride is a rocky road that's straight and doesn't bend
Pride's a path you follow
Pride's your closest friend
Pride's the source inside your heart
from which you can draw strength
Begin all your journeyings with pride
Pride's the bond between us. Pride's the bridge we burn
Pride's the victory, the battle, from which we shall return
Pride's the spark of fire within, the crucible, the germ
The seed of our power is our pride
Pride, pride, pride

Nothing to Lose by Clair Lewis (now Mx Dennis Queen)

Nothing to lose
by Clair Lewis (now Mx Dennis Queen)
From the grit to the gutter
Isn’t far to fall
I recognise the muddy wallpaper
From my time in the womb
The reason you are scared of me
Is I have so little to lose
You belong to polite society
And I don’t follow the rules
I’ve got nothing to lose
Nothing to lose
I will never bow down to you, no…
If you want to hurt me
It takes a kick stronger than you
You know I love how it annoys you
As I grin at your oncoming shoe
The reason you would silence me
Is I see straight though you
Well I know you’d like to frighten me
But I just pity you
I’ve got nothing to lose
Nothing to lose
I will never bow down to you, no…
I will never ever bow down to you
The reason you are scared of me
Is I have so little to lose
You belong to polite society
And I can’t even read the rules
I’ve got nothing to lose
Nothing to lose
I will never bow down to you, no…
I will never ever bow down to you
I’ve got nothing to lose
Nothing to lose
Nothing to lose.

Douglas Bader by Ian Stanton
Music is fast guitar picking and strumming.
Douglas Bader
Song by Ian Stanton
When it seems life’s getting harder
I remember Douglas Bader
‘Cos that’s what my doctor said to do.
Said "Overcome those negative feelings
You will find yourself revealing
Sides of you you never even knew."
Yes and I will smile and nod and smile
And I’ll be happy all the while
You might think that I’m a hero too.
Gonna buy a picture of Douglas Bader
Stick it on a dart board in my yard,
Throw darts at it ‘til I can smile anew. [laughs]
Sometimes when my life gets tougher
I become a victim and a sufferer
I know cause my local paper says it’s true.
Crippled man of 41, that’s the headline I’ve become
With a tragic smiling picture in there too.
Yes and I will smile and nod and smile,
And I’ll be happy all the while
Finally I’ve found a claim to fame.
I am sad, yes I’m pathetic
I’m a fan of Oldham Athletic
There’s 15,000 out there just the same.
I need someone studying me,
researching all my special needs
Who could be better qualified than you?
After some experimentation
you’ll define my situation
Who can solve my problems if not you?
Yes and I will smile and nod and smile
And I’ll be happy all the while
Even though I sometimes get confused.
You see a lot of us struggle day to day
While you get such a tidy wage
‘Cos everybody’s equal ‘especially you.
